Taxes & Refunds

What is the status of my refund?

How can I pay my tax estimates or balance due electronically?

How do I request a PIN from the IRS?

An Identity Protection (IP) PIN is a six-digit number that prevents someone else from filing a tax return using your Social Security number.

TaxCaddy & the Client Portal

We use both TaxCaddy and the Client Portal to securely exchange documents with you, and each platform serves a different role in the tax process.

To make things simple, we created a short video that walks through how the two tools work, when to use each one, and what to expect throughout the year.

Why do you use both TaxCaddy and the Client Portal?

Each tool serves a different purpose. Using both allows us to securely collect information from you and deliver finalized documents back to you in the most efficient way.

What should I use TaxCaddy for?

TaxCaddy is used to send information to Davie Kaplan. This includes uploading tax documents, completing your electronic organizer and questionnaires, signing engagement letters, and messaging our team with questions. You can upload documents throughout the year as you receive them.

Can I use my phone with TaxCaddy?

Yes. TaxCaddy offers a mobile app that allows you to take photos of documents and upload them directly, as long as images are clear and legible.

What should I use the Client Portal for?

The Client Portal is used to receive information from Davie Kaplan. This is where you’ll access your completed tax return and submit signed e-file authorization forms so your return can be released for filing.

Do I need to password-protect my files before uploading them?

No. Both TaxCaddy and the Client Portal are secure platforms, so additional password protection is not required.

Do TaxCaddy and the Client Portal use the same login?

No. Each platform has its own login. If you forget your password, please use the “Forgot Password” option on the login page. For security reasons, we do not have access to your passwords.

What if I’m not sure where something belongs?
